Hello and welcome to our home page!
Genealogy is my favorite hobby. It has developed into a life-long quest of a historical search through time.
The surnames we are researching are: BROWN, BRYAN, BURDEN, CAMERON, DAVIS,DOLBOW, FLOYD, FOSTER, HICKMAN, LAWRENCE, MILLER, SMITH, STOKES, STRONG, TEAGUE, VANDERPOOL, YOUNG, WESTFALL, and others.
We began our research on the Bryan Family 14 years ago, and have gone back 6 generations. The 7th generation is being researched by various Bryan researchers, and we hope to have the data proved one day. Our Cousin Dee of Missouri is our main Bryan researcher - we look to her for a lot of guidance, which she cheerfully gives with patience and fortitude.
Our Brown research has developed quickly due to the use of the internet. We received contact from Brown cousins we knew nothing of until February 1999. In May 1999, Robert and I attended our first Brown Reunion of Ava, Douglas County, Missouri. Our Cousin Sally has been a wealth of information, and she was kind enough to walk through various cemeteries with me while we photographed as many graves as we could in the short time we had to work. She also was with me when we visited an elderly Strong relation in Ozark, Missouri on Memorial Day, 1999. Through this visit we learned more of our ancestors from a dear lady, Lena Strong Williams. Bill Gaulding, another Strong descendant, has shared old photos and other important data with us. His email and friendship are greatly appreciated.
Our Smith research was at a virtual stand still for several years, until we met Cousin Robert through internet research. Robert helped us to connect with our Dolbow lines, and had extensive data on the Smith family. He is a wonderful pen pal and we treasure his friendship.
Our Strong research has had surprising results. A few days after posting on GenForum, we received a call from a Strong cousin of California. His quest is to trace the Strong surname back as far as he can go. The history we discovered in Breathitt County, Kentucky told us why our father would not speak of a lot of his family's history. If Dad were living today, I honestly feel he would at first be appalled by my nosiness - and then he would dive in and read all we could provide for him. His love of books and history would have had him involved in our research.
We hope you enjoy your visit and plan to return often. If you discover a relationship with any of our lines, we would love to hear from you!
